Yurihonjo City, located at the foot of Mt. Chokai, has many scenic spots such as Hokutai-no-taki and Moto-taki, as well as many hot spring facilities.

Honjo Park
The ruins of the original castle is maintained as a public park. There is a path on the upper level in the park, so you can enjoy  walking with a panoramic view of the town. 
In spring, cherry blossoms bloom and it is a popular place for cherry blossom viewing. Many people take walks here, and it is loved by Honjyo citizens.
Taya
 
The cafe and store, renovated from an old warehouse, serves amazake (sweet sake),  ice cream made from sake dreg ice cream and cakes. Souvenirs associated with Akita and local sweets are available.
The renovated warehouse is used as a workshop, where cooking classes and exhibitions are held.
Saiya Brewery
The brewery's storehouse, which remains unchanged from the time of its founding, and the store, with its unique Western design on the second floor, are valuable buildings registered as Tangible Cultural Properties of Japan.
In addition to sake, the brewery also produces sake dregs ice cream, pickles, and sweet sake.

Akata Great Buddha
This giant Daibutsu, the Bodhisattva Kannon, stands 9 meters tall and is considered one of the three largest Kannon in Japan. It has 11 faces.
The size of the sight is overwhelming.
On August 22 and 23, a mixed Shinto/Buddhist festival is held, which is rare in Japan!
Wooden Toy Museum
The museum was created by renovating an elementary school building. There is a large collection of handmade wooden toys from all over the world. Indonesian puppets and German puzzles. Inside the museum there is a stylish cafe and souvenirs made of wood. It is a place for both adults and children.
Ranch icecreem
Tsuchida Farm raises Jersey cows. Chokaisan can be seen from the ranch. Chokai from the ranch. It is spacious and the flowing wind is comfortable. Products such as ice cream, cheesecake, and yogurt are made from the Jersey cows raised here. 
There is also a restaurant where you can barbecue lamb at your table.
Sausages grilled over charcoal are exceptional.

Ugohonjo station

Walk along the passage above the station with the hanging embroiderd ball, kown as  Gotenmari, and which are  traditional local craft.

Sanboen park

Mt.Chokai, Koyoshi River, and the Sea of Japan can be enjoyed all at once. In the morning, the Japan Sea shines in the morning sun, and in the evening, the sunset over the Sea of Japan is fascinating.

Akata Great Buddha

See up close the Huge statue of the Kannon, the goddess of mercy. It stands 9 meters high and is considered one of the 3 greatest Chokokuji temple Kannons in Japan.

It has eleven faces.

Honjyo park

Stroll around the ruins of Honjo Castle. Cherry blossoms decorate the park in  April and azaleas are in full bloom in May. You can learn  the history and culture of Honjo at Shushinkan museum.

Traditional long-established restaurant. You can enjoy dishes that bring out the deliciousness of locally produced ingredients.


Yosenji temple

Go back in time to late edo period at this family temple, Rokugo former load of Honjo.
You can see masterpieces of architectural art in the late Edo period.

Beniya

Visit a shop kimono and rerated accessories.
other such as  high-class kimonos, but there are also many types of Japanese patterned towels and wallets. The folding fans here are light and come in wide variety of design. They make good souvenirs.

Saiya sake brewing tour

Take a tour around this historical sake brewery and see the various  stages of  sake brewing process.
