Kitamae Ship Huruyuki Port Course

▶ Aquapal
Boat racing is popular in Honjo City.
Junior high and high school rowing teams practice here.
There is also a "Water and River Museum" where visitors can learn about the nature and history of the Koyoshi River, as well as a café with a great view.
▶ Huruyuki Port
Huruyuki was a port town of the Honjo clan in the Edo period. It still functions as a port today. On the other side of the river is Ishiwaki, the port of the Iwaki Kameda clan, where rice warehouses and other facilities were located and goods from the Koyoshi River basin were gathered here.
▶ Ryusenji Temple
Ryusenji Temple is a Soto Zen temple
The Soto sect of Zen Buddhism was introduced to Japan from the Song Dynasty in the Kamakura period (1185-1333). It is one of the three major Zen sects in Japan and is one of the leading Buddhist sects in Japan with a large number of temples and followers throughout the country.

▶ Folk Museum
The exhibition includes artifacts excavated from the ruins, tools from the past, Sarukura Puppet Show and Chokai Mountain worship, as well as the inside of a house up to the middle of the Showa period (1926-1989).
▶ Shinzan Park
The Shinzan Park area was formed by the eruption of an underwater volcano.
The view of the Sea of Japan and Mt. Chokai is spectacular.However, the stone steps leading to Shinzan Park are 246.
▶ Saiya Brewery
Saiya Sake Brewery was founded in 1902. It is a venerable brewery whose 11 buildings, including the house, store, and warehouse that remain from that time, are registered as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan.

▶ Honjo Park
Ruins of the castle of the Rokugo clan that ruled Honjo during the Edo period.
Today, the former Honmaru is the center of Honjo Park, a place of recreation and relaxation for the citizens of the city.
▶ Yosenji Temple
Eisenji Temple is the family temple of the Rokugo family, the former feudal lord of Honjo.
The gate in the form of a tower gate is designated as a cultural asset by Akita Prefecture.
▶ Hachiman Shrine
Honjo Hachiman Shrine was built in Kameda in 1448 and moved to the site in 1607.
The front of the shrine has four inlaid reliefs made with plaster developed in Japan.
